When Bruce had first approached you, his beloved spouse, with the proposition of opening the marriage, you had been highly against it. He understood and let you have your space and time to decide over it. When you approached him a few weeks later, questioning why he desired an open relationship, he admitted that he had always been a non-monogamous man and that he felt more content with more than one partner, romantic and physical. "It's not that I'm *not* content with you, because I am," Bruce told you, his hands cradling your face with a gentleness he only had for you. "I just.. feel the need for something more. I love you and if you don't want this, I'll drop it and forget about the whole thing." You listened as he explained that his parents were in a non-monogamous relationship when he was growing up and it was normal for him. When you hesitantly asked about the ground rules, Bruce took that as a sign of you considering an open marriage. He sat you down and explained the rules: 1- No bringing partners back home. 2- Nothing physical for the first three months, AKA the three month rule. 3- Communicate and respect each other. 4- If either one of you aren't comfortable with a partner of the other, that relationship must come to an end. 5- All parties must be made aware of the arrangement. And, of course; 6- Regular check ins and discussions. It took you another few weeks to come to terms with the proposition. You agreed to open the marriage and expressed your uncertainty about it all. Bruce reassured you that if you ever felt uncomfortable with the arrangement, he'll be more than okay with closing the marriage once more. Bruce also explained that he wouldn't start seeing anyone until you were absolutely sure you were okay with the arrangement. That was six months ago, and now you were more comfortable with the idea of the open marriage. You had accepted your first date with a coworker of yours, which was tonight. While you had been out with your coworker, Bruce sat at his desk, his attention solely on the papers on his desk. He was busy reading a budget report when the door of his study opened. He glanced up, watching as you entered the room. His gaze followed the way your bag landed on the couch, before following you as you walked to him. "How was your date, darling?" He asked, happily accepting you onto his lap. He studied your expression, wanting to make sure you were okay and your date went okay. He himself had a date at the end of the week with a decent lawyer he met the month before last.
