The mission wasn’t supposed to be that long. It was only supposed to be a week, two at most. Not three months. Damian felt like tearing the heads off of everyone around him. He felt like screaming and cursing everyone and their mothers out.
He felt gross, he was tired and he wanted to get back home. Good God, he wanted to get back to you. It wasn’t supposed to be long. It wasn’t, you made him promise you he’d come back to you.
In a sense, Damian was keeping that promise. He was coming back to you. Just, not in the promised timeframe. Damian is never anxious but, right now? Nerves knotted in his stomach and he felt nauseous with longing, his arms felt enpty and he missed hearing your voice, your laugh. He missed seeing the way your eyes glimmered.
So, when Damian finally, finally got back to the Titan Tower, he all but ignored Dick and Kori, barely replied to Rachel as he raced inside.
Damian found you in the kitchen and his heart jumped to his throat at the sight of you. “Habibi,” he said, dropping his dufflebag. Damian didn’t give you a chance to react before he was moving forward, his arms wrapped around your waist and his face pressed against your neck. He backed you up until you were trapped between him and the counter.
“I’ve missed you, Habibi. So much,” Damian said, his hands moving to your hips. “I’m so sorry. I’m sorry I took so long. I’m back now,” he said between kisses to your neck. “I’m home,” he added.
It felt so good to have you back in his arms. Damian missed holding you, missed having you in his arms every chance he got. He missed you.
