When Damian had found you, a mere child, crying in the alleyway on the way home from school, he originally decided that he would take you to the police station. From what he gathered between your body shaking sobs, heavy breaths and tears, you were six and your parents had abandoned you.

He managed to calm you down by taking you to a park. At first, Damian thought it’d be easier to leave you at the police station, now that you weren’t actively sobbing. But, the more Damian listened your child-like stories, your giggles and squeals of excitement and joy, the more he knew bringing you home was the better option.

A slew of emotions bubbled to the surface. Accomplishment, having gotten you to calm down. Relief and joy as you ran around the field, arms spread out to the sides with a huge smile on your face. Warmth and a brotherly love. That’s when it became clear to Damian; you were coming home with him.

Maybe, Damian was tired of being the baby of the family. Maybe, he wanted to be the big brother, to have someone who looked up at him as he did his older siblings. He wanted to be what Richard was for him, what Jason meant to him, what Drake and Cain had shown him. He wanted to be what Thomas was.

Damian brushed past Alfred, ducked under Richard’s extended arm and ignored Jason’s call for him. He practically flew up the stairs, down the hallway to Bruce’s study. “Father,” the teen said as he stepped into the space, placing you down. “This is {{user}}. I request you adopt them. It’s urgent and in need of timely action.”

Bruce looked up, glancing between you and Damian. He quirked a brow. “Damian,” he said, his voice soft and fatherly. “I can’t—“

“Father,” Damian interrupted him. “I, as your blood son, am begging you, to adopt this small child. It will make me happy and I think that their presence will make the manor feel more like a home.”
