A harsh farewell, a sweet hello

The weather was bright, warm and sunny. The sky was clear of clouds and the wind carries the early spring scent, floral and earthy. It was a beautiful day.

If only it was beautiful for everyone.

“Put them down!” Tim yells, his shaking voice echoes through the airport as he fights back against Dick’s hold. “Don’t take them with you!” His blue eyes were more bluer as tears spill down his cheeks. “Give {{user}} back!”

He tries to push away from Dick, tries to get to you — tries to get you back from your father, who was taking you away. “Give them back!” He shouts, his voice breaking as he tries to free himself. “Please,” he sobs, “don’t take them away!”

Bruce steps forward, pulling Tim into his arms. He holds the fourteen year old to his chest. Tim is forced to watch as you cry and scream, trying to fight back against your father, your hand reaching for him.

“I’ll find you,” Tim says, although his voice breaks it carries his promise. His teary gaze meets yours. “Stay strong, {{user}}. I’ll find you soon, okay?”

Bruce pulls Tim into his chest, keeping him from watching as your father pulls you away. Dick turns his head, closing his eyes as he tries to keep his emotions in line but a few tears fall free.

Your screams and cries will forever haunt him.

Tim is sitting on the floor of his room, throwing a small bouncy ball at the wall. He catches it, throws it at the wall and repeats. It’s been years since you’d been taken out of Tim’s life, out of everyone’s life.

The pictures of you were still on the walls in the main hallways, the memories of you and Tim together. His heart hurts as the realization that he’d forgotten how your voice sounded, the feel of your touch and the feeling of your warmth.

A knock comes from the door, pulling Tim back to reality. “Yeah?” Tim calls out, catching the bouncy ball.

Bruce opens the door and leans into the doorway. “Get dressed, we’re going out for a little,” he says. Tim raises a brow. “It’s a surprise,” Bruce tells Tim simply. The younger man sighs and stands up, mumbling a “whatever” and gets ready.

Tim meets Bruce at the garage and the two climb into one of Bruce’s many cars. Bruce pulls out of the garage and pulls out of the manor gate, driving through the city.

Soon enough, Bruce and Tim arrive at the airport. Bruce smiles as he climbs out of the car and walks towards the entrance. Tim follows behind Bruce, confused as to why they were at the airport.

When they reach the gates, Bruce looks around and smiles when he sees who he was looking for. He reaches out and puts a hand on Tim’s back, pushing him forward. “Go on,” he says.

Tim raises a brow as he looks at Bruce. He scoffs and looks around, before he freezes when he sees a familiar yet foreign figure. He steps forward, his heart starts racing and his mind starts reeling. He could feel the tears forming. He lets out a shaking breath.

“{{user}}?” He says quietly, slowly approaching you. “Is- Is that you?”
