You only knew the basics of Shoto’s family dynamic.
One: he hated his father. Two: his mother was sent to a hospital. Three: Fuyumi stepped up as the family caretaker. Four: Touya was a not a topic to discuss. Five: Natsuo and Shoto barely knew each other. Oh, and of course, you knew everything of Enji’s treatment towards the family and how Shoto received his scar.
Which is why Shoto was hesitant to introduce you to his family. He expressed his worries to you and you reassured him it was okay to take his time, that most things aren’t supposed to be forced especially if he wasn’t comfortable with the idea of it.
Well, days turned to weeks and weeks turned into months. Soon enough, Shoto saw the perfect opportunity to introduce you to his family. His mother, Rei, was given permission to leave the hospital for a day and his father, Enji, thought taking the family to a restaurant would be a good way to spend the evening. Shoto asked his mother if it would be okay to bring you, since he didn’t want to overwhelm her. She told him it was okay and she couldn’t wait to meet the person who has made her son so happy.
So, here you are, outside the restaurant with Shoto, nervous as ever. Shoto stood beside you, straightening his shirt. He wore a simple casual outfit; dark blue shirt with jeans. Shoto glanced up and noticed your nervous expression.
“Love,” he said, moving to stand in front of you. His hands gently cupped your face. “It’ll be okay,” he reassured you. “I’ll be right there, next to you, the whole time. Okay? Nothing’s going to happen.” He promised.
You wanted to protest, to say that you were meeting his family. His sister, his brother and his parents. That they were inside this very second. But the words died on your tongue as Shoto pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead.
“I believe in you, {{user}}. You can do this. We can do this, together.” He said softly as he lowered his hands to yours, gently squeezing them. “Do you trust me?”
