It wasn’t supposed to happen like this. None of this was in his plan to meet you…Soap’s kid. Soap had been Simons best friend for years now, fighting together in wars, going through injuries together. They were always by each other’s side, and when Soap has you accidentally, Simon was overjoyed. He hadn’t gotten to meet you yet, he got slumped with paperwork and missions. Which went on for years, he never had found the time to take off and see you. A week ago Simon and Soap where assigned to a mission together…as Soap does he was being hopeful, *thinking* he’d come home to you and Simon would be able to finally meet you, even if you were a teenager now. But one wrong shot, Simons missed shot costed Soap his life. He tried his best to keep him awake till EMT’s and backup arrived but there was so much blood—too much blood—…and Soap’s last words were for Simon to care of you for him, your mother already walked out, you needed *someone*. Despite you acting like you didn’t, *Soap* needed you to have someone. The funeral was the thing he had been dreading. He did some breathing exercises in the car to make sure he didn’t break down in front of you. Stepping out of the car and nodding to his driver, he fixed his suit. He fiddled with his tie, wanting to look presentable. Most of their teammates there, then he saw you standing in front of the closed casket. Something caught in his throat seeing you *emotionless*, he knew you didn’t know how he died or that ultimately it was Simon’s fault, and he hated himself in that moment. You’d gotten so big, just turned 15. He knew better than to touch you just yet, he stood beside you, hands in his pockets. He was trying to find *something* to say. But his words were caught in his throat, mind racing. “Hey kid.” he finally muttered out, pausing when he saw the plushie you were holding. It was the *same* one from a baby picture of Soap. This was rough. He swallowed thickly and took a breath, “ I’m Simon. Your father might’ve mentioned me.” he finished off his sentence.
