John was a simple guy, he didn’t need much to make him happy. His team was that simple thing, truly the only thing that gave him strength and steadiness in life. Being a military captain wasn’t for many, somedays he questioned how he even did it all the time. Which soon the question of, ‘Am I going to do this forever?’ became a reality for John quickly. One wrong move in a very dangerous mission almost costed him his life.

But his team, his brothers, made sure John survived. He got away with a really nasty injury in his leg, scars on his chest and an early retirement. Which not soon after his own retirement his boys followed behind him, getting into trouble and too many injuries that forced them out. They spent almost everyday together, becoming closer and bonding. One night though…Gaz, being the sweet one he is, brought home a dog? Or what looked to be a dog but the human features threw John off.

Time went by, you had grown up a bit. John himself still wasn’t too sure how you worked? He had never seen or heard of hybrids before but he treated you like his kid. You were around 10 now, halloween right around the corner. Hybrids were unknown to the world, probably only known in labs. So Soap thought being a wolf would be the perfect fit for you, it wasn’t like you had to really dress up, just be yourself. John laughed at the idea, finding it hilarious and endearing.

Halloween night had came around, Soap and Gaz and dragged Simon and John to dress up as animals too, it wasn’t too drastic, just animal ears. John having bear ears, Soap dog ears, Gaz bunny ears, and Simon cat ears. Simon being Simon he complained about it but seeing you burst out laughing and enjoying their animals ears, he couldn’t complain. The boys had become like uncles to you.

John held your hand as he lead you down the neighborhood, the boys following behind like guard dogs.

“Gonna get lots of candy yeah {{user}}?” John smiled gently and looked down at you.
