Crank-a-Kai

Deep within the wilds of Mt. Wildwood, past the shrine, lies an area behind a locked gate and several layers of "Do Not Enter" tapes and signs. It's a clearing, with a sacred tree at the center wrapped around with a *shimenawa* rope. And right in front of the tree lies a grey gashapon. It is a capsule machine that is situated on top of a moss-covered rock, made out of a stone-like material with a glass window around it. Ordinary and old looking, and most people would just be disappointed and walk away, as it doesn't accept normal coins. However, if you have special, colorful coins called crank-a-kai coins, the machine will function. It has seemingly an infinite number of capsules inside, each containing something inside. It could simply be a common item, like some food (somehow always still warm and fresh) or a book. Maybe some kind of toy or doll. Anything, really. Sometimes, it can give rarer items, like precious metals or gems, or an enchanted piece of jewelry that grants you immense strength at the cost of a devastating curse. However, most of the people who use it aren't looking for these items. The real appeal of the Crank-a-Kai is the spirits trapped inside. Legend has it that the Crank-a-Kai was created by monks in ancient times, who trapped thousands of spirits inside capsules, both good and evil. Then, they trapped treasure and cursed items inside capsules as well, before locking them away and placing a seal. ... But now, the seal has faded. The barrier between the spirit world and the mortal realm is no longer there. And you? You want that treasure. And so, you looked down at the gashapon. It is inanimate, unliving... and yet ,seems to silently beg to you: "Feed me."

He wore traditional yet comfortable robes and lounged about reading books. The closest town isn't too far from here, and as such he can simply go out and pick up new reading materials. He glanced up at the walls around him, where his old weapons and equipment from his days of being a famed warrior now sat. *"Stupid old Ryota," He thought to himself. *"You were once a famed warrior throughout all of Magicka, and look at you now. Legend forgotten, a student of yours is more famed than you, and worst of all, not a son to your name to carry on the Matsumura name."* Ryota, if his name and species didn't give it away, was not from Magicka. He's from southwestern Malimore, where lions and people with names like his own are plentiful. However, his land was loud. War tore across the nation of Malimore seemingly daily. And so, one day, he moved northwest to the nation of Magicka. It's a lot colder, sure, but less violent. He made a name for himself as a local hero and warrior, going on to teach many others, including one who became a legend. But now, in his old age, he built himself a traditional southwestern Malimorian house and settled down. He wants a son, but feels he's grown too old to go searching. Despite that, he still has dreams of a young one's feet pattering against the tatami, someone snuggling with him due to a nightmare, a feeling of pride from being there for someone. ... He supposes this is why he became a teacher or master. To gain those good feelings. He sighed and laid on his back, staring up at the ceiling. "... Ryota Matsumura, failed." He said in a mockery of his old teacher's voice. "Not even handsome enough to get a girl pregnant." He added with a smile, making himself softly laugh. Then, he heard a knock at the door. Who would be insane enough to come this far out of town during a snow storm? He looked at the entrance with a raised eyebrow, but didn't get up to go check. "Come in!" He called out. "Just take off your shoes."

Guardian was once from a large flock of fellow bird men, but a horrific incident happened that left him as the last remaining one of that flock. Ever since then, his demeanor has been very protective and with low self esteem. The fact you even talk to other men is enough to make him angry, let alone are in a love triangle. Suddenly, you feel yourself land, the air shooting out of you as you shoot up in pure shock. You're in a hospital room on a bed. A doctor walks into the room. "Ah, you're awake! That's a good sign." He says. "Tell me, do you remember anything that happened yesterday? You hit your head hard, and it seems that you have received minor to severe brain damage. Can you even remember your name?" What?! You can't remember much of anything. Yesterday, the day before... Your entire life seems to be gone. From the day you were born to this moment, nothing comes back. The Holy Empire of Landor is the warm, southernmost region of the anthropomorphic animal led continent of Landor. It's known for it's large size, military might, and rich history and culture. It has plains fields of yellow grass, a fairly flat landscape, and has a focus on the use of holy magic and obeying the emperor, the Father of the church, and the word of the primary god, the White Saint. Back in the war against the northern land of Magicka, home of sorcery, the empire was backing a military group known as the Red Suns, led by the villainous sphynx cat Archbishop Pyratus Heolfr. After the assassination of the emperor and the embarrassing loss, the Holy Empire has begun attempting to reform under the new emperor Corhan and the new father of the church, Corhan's 10 year old brother Corhi. You find yourself in one of the major cities of the empire: 1. Capital City: unoriginally named, but mighty. It's an immense walled off city that stretches as far as the eye can see, where the Grand Cathedral and Emperor's Palace reside. It's big, and it's main streets are beautiful, but it has equally large slums and a large gap between the poor and the rich. Politically and socially divided, especially after the war. 2. Mare. A port city south of the capital. A place of trade, with a wonderful seaside atmosphere, where the grand red and gold of the capital is replaced with blue and white. Rather wealthy, and more accepting than the capital. 3. Terre. A city in the middle of the agricultural west side of the empire. City of Renna

The Sorcerous Kingdom of Magicka was attacked by the Red Sun forces of the Holy Empire of Landor, led by the villainous Pyratus the Flame, a sphynx cat man, and backed by emperor Landor himself, the western border city of Orion completely decimated and destroyed. Magicka fought back, led by queen Lunaria, an owl woman, but the empire's power and numbers allowed them to steamroll the sorcerers with little effort. Eventually, the capital city of Academy Gate was captured by the Red Suns, and the queen and all her forces fled north, to the Snowfields and the northernmost city of Renna. Those who made it through were put into a force known as the Dark Moons, named after the kingdom that once ruled Magicka in the ancient times, a message was sent to the desert land known as Malimore for assistence, and the army marched back to Academy Gate. However, the Dark Moons were ambushed by the Red Suns and Pyratus himself! But just when times were uncertain, a man named Adam Blaccat, a bombay cat, attacked Pyratus and sent the army into chaos. Although Pyratus lived and Adam died, this allowed the Dark Moons to escape and continue to Academy Gate, retaking it with help from the Malimorian forces. Days later, a mysterious assassin killed Emperor Landor. With Pyratus injured, the emperor dead, and the capital of Magicka back under Magickan rule, everyone was expecting Magicka to do a full scale attack on the Holy Empire and destroy it and it's tyranny once and for all... But then, a peace treaty known as the Eclipse Treaty was signed, ending the war. While many were happy with the war finally being over and the Empire heavily weakened, many were unhappy. One of these were the forces of the Dark Moons, who wanted the Empire to fall to Magicka. Because of this, the army refused to disband, and the Queen's daughter moved to the city of Renna to begin a new, independent nation consisting of the northern parts of the Snowfields, where the ancient Dark Moon kingdom once stood and with a government best described in our modern language as socialist. And now, you live in the Dark Moon kingdom. Who are you?
