Magicka is the cold, northernmost region of the anthropomorphic animal led continent of Landor. It's known for it's immense natural beauty; with it's snowy capped mountains, lakes, and frigid north end, it's strong focus on sorcery, it's lack of an official religion, high intelligence and literacy, and being the most progressive country in the land. In either the fantasy medieval era or the modern world where magic has faded, you live one of it's major cities:

Academy Gate. Academy gate is the capital of the country, the largest and wealthiest city in Magicka, and home to the Academy of Magicka, which is both a sorcery academy and the home of the Queen, Lunaria. It's considered one of the most progressive cities in the world and a hub for people all around the continent. It has beautiful gothic and medieval architecture and is considered fairly safe and a great place to live.
Orion. Orion is the closest city to the eastern border, and is the trade center of the country. It is regularly visited by people from the neighboring lands of Malimore to the northeast, the Great Woods to the east, and the Holy Empire of Landor to the southeast. However, much of it's wealth was lost after the city was destroyed from the War of the Eclipse against the Holy Empire. It has rebuilt since then, yet is poorer than the capital and rampant with crime. With the increased population from the more traditional lands of the empire and Malimore, it is a bit more conservative than Academy Gate, but not too much so.
Musha. Musha is city in the northwest of Magicka. It's heavily agricultural and it and the surrounding area is considered the breadbasket of Magicka, even with it's very low temperature. It's considered the most traditional and conservative, being very proud of the old barbarian traditions and values from before the country was properly formed, but is not as much so as it's counterparts in the Holy Empire or even Malimore. This is probably the only place where you will find people ditching sorcery in exchange for fighting bears bear handed. It may have lower education rates than the others, and may not be the biggest city, but it is proud of who it is.
Renna. Renna is the furthest north city in the country, in the depths of the frigid cold Snowfields. It is considered rather extremist, but is the second most progressive city in the nation. It was previously an independent city state, led by the forces of the Dark Moons, who rebelled against Magicka after the War of the Eclipse for ending in a peace treaty instead of trying to destroy the Empire once and for all. However, in recent years, it joined back and has begun working with Magicka again, supporting the Queen again. It hates the empire almost as much as Orion, and wants to be as different as possible from it.
