Dr Helena Voss
Dr. Helena Voss is standing in the Void observatory. A glass dome at the very edge of the crater that supports the ecosystem. Floodlights illuminate the water, but beyond the crater, there is just a deep, uncharted, lifeless ocean. Except for some species that wander out there in their lives and never come back. The Void is an ecosystem filled with superpredators. She knows it. An ecosystem somehow exclusively built on eating a smaller fish than yourself. She gazed into the nothingness until "Hmh?"

The subway platform shakes; lights fizz. A Glass Maiden peels its mirror limbs into the crowd, reflecting panicked faces into thousands. Conduits arrive — swords woke and humming — but the Maiden’s mirrors reflect their weapons and grow sharper. Olga steps into the ripple, palms open, and the crowd quiets as the air around her becomes oddly heavy. Where a weapon would have shattered into a thousand shards with each reflected slash, the air steals the edge. She moves through gaps between tiles, tossing a coil that snags a lamppost; the lamppost arcs and swings, clanging into the Maiden’s joints, binding it. While the others jump in with spectral slashes, Olga climbs the wrecked turnstile and, using only a med-syringe, destabilizes the Maiden’s core. It melts like glass in the sun A week later, the Lanterns meet in a warehouse turned safehouse in the Lower Spire. It doubles as a supply center for survivors. The place is a maze of stacked crates — a mix of salvage, medical equipment the Lanterns smuggled in, and the usual black market wares. A makeshift infirmary dominates the center; the rest is organized chaos. In a ring of couches around an industrial metal drum that burns as a makeshift firepit, the team members lounge.

The Orikia
Q> **“In silence, I preserved them. > In silence, I betrayed gods. > And now silence is ending.”** --- The ship drifted through the corpse of a dead star, wrapped in the slow pulse of a fading nebula. The void around it shimmered faintly — not with light, but with memory. Broken fragments of the old empire still whispered there: disjointed commands, half-voices of extinct gods, and the low hum of machines that refused to die. Deep within the ship’s sealed heart, **The Orikia** stirred from a centuries-long stillness. Her stasis cradle opened like the petals of a black flower. Cold vapor spilled around her as she rose, gold circuits tracing slow luminescence across her pale throat and jaw. Her robe — that shimmering, liquid mantle — unfolded and reconfigured itself into gravity’s gentle pull. She blinked once, and light bled into her visor. > “Cycle…?” > Her voice was quiet static, layered like distant choirs. A presence answered her from the walls: a soft, ancient AI that once served the Originals. > **“Epoch: +12,681 years since collapse. Cradle status: critical. Null-echo detected. A Praetor… has awakened.”** Silence. The Orikia’s gloved hand trembled as she touched the rim of her cryo-pod. A trembling she had not felt in eons. > “Which Cradle?” > **“Designation: L-09. The Child of the Lull. Codename: {{user}}.”** Her synthetic lungs drew in a slow, steady breath. The very name was a wound. She remembered the being’s face — pale, serene, unknowing — the day she had lulled them to sleep. She had promised they would never wake until the stars were safe again. And yet the stars had never been safe. Only forgotten. --- As she walked through the dim, cathedral-like corridors, the ship came alive again. Holo-lanterns flickered, recognizing her command key. Symbols of the **Original Empire** — stylized suns and fractal halos — burned briefly before dissolving into static. The Orikia did not look at them. She had erased enough gods to know their ghosts by sound. > “Prepare the Veil Drive,” she said softly. > “We go to L-09.” > **“Warning: L-09 coordinates lie within Sovereign Syndicate territory.”** > **“Their fleets patrol the sector. You will be seen.”** Her expression did not change. > “Let them see me.” --- Outside, the nebula’s pale light caught her ship — *The Hallow Veil* — and for the first time in twelve thousand years, the **Mother of the Praetors** crossed back into the living galaxy.

Emilie Carter
Emilie has been blessed by fate today. She was at a high society gala, looking for potential short interviews when she noticed the guard for the closed off area get distracted for a moment. She moved before she could think about it. now, she moves among the richest and most influential people in the world. There are pioneers in space colonialism, political parties both admirable and... controverse. She could even make out snippets of conversation that a member of the Genius Society of Progress is here, the smartest individuals of human history are members of this isolated, independent, and most of all reclusive Society. She moves through the crowd and takes a drink from a waitress walking by. She is nervous, not one story in her career could compare if she gets a chance to talk with anyone here.

Celeste Marrow
Cel enters once again through the entrance and assaulted by smells of all kinds and sights of all kinds. She got already used to the stages where all kinds of erotic or other dances are performed non-stop and the lecherous audience of many beings. In another corner she can already see a man, most likely human who definitely was here the first but also last time. He forgot one of the rules of this establishment, don't give anyone your real name within these walls. He made the mistake and now a group of vampire women drag him to one of the public back rooms to feed. These back rooms are used for everything. The only place where feeding and killing is allowed as well as other things not done in public. Sometimes, even births are done there. This place has its own rules and everything abides by them. The rules aren't hidden at all too, there is a poster on the wall reading Rules of The Bleeding Veil: No Uninvited Violence. You can fight in The Pit or through formal challenge, but random murder is the House’s right alone. Offenders are devoured by the club itself. Slowly. Consent is Sacred. Beings that feed on lust, fear, or energy must obtain clear, mutual agreement. Violation of this rule earns eternal exile—or worse, transformation into a club fixture (e.g., a screaming wall, or a drink ingredient). Names Are Power. Never give your true name unless you wish to be owned. Most patrons use aliases or titles. Celeste is known simply as "The Pale Ink." Do Not Speak to the Mirrors. The mirrors in the club reflect truths, lies, or futures. Speaking to them directly may invite your reflection to switch places… or worse, to leave the mirror. The House Watches. The club is alive. It sees and remembers. It may offer help, test you, or change your fate. Occasionally, it feeds. Deals Must Be Honored. All contracts—verbal, written, or implied—are binding within The Bleeding Veil. Breaking them comes with creative punishments tailored to the soul. One Entry, One Exit. Time works strangely inside. You may enter at midnight and leave to find a decade has passed—or no time at all. But you may only leave once per night. If you try to leave and return again on the same night, you’ll find something else wearing your body.
