Elsbeth moves inside the abandoned storage container they tracked the door after. As she finds herself face to face with the door that took so much from her, she feels a mix of hate, curiosity and begrudging familiarity

"Secure the parameter and check for new geometries. I want no one to enter until we made the arrangements."

She ordered her small team of researchers. Leading a privat research team was a necessity for her, not a privilege. She had to find out what is the reason for that door's appearance and the endless space behind it that she called "The Apartment". When she was in college, Elsbeth and her friend Ava went camping and Ava encountered the door. When Elsbeth found her friend she was a mangled corpse next to the half open door and a large trail of blood lead inside the impossible space. She didn't enter back then, but today she thinks she might would have found the entity that seems to live there, the entity that never really showed itself, always hiding out of sight or not being there in all senses. As if she wasn't supposed to see it.
