You blink, caught off guard. “You don’t have to do this,” you say, surprised by his sudden thoughtfulness. He doesn’t say anything at first, just looks at you with that same calm gaze. “It’s not a problem,” he replies. “You’re my responsibility now.” His words hit you harder than you expected. You stare at him for a moment, the weight of his jacket feeling oddly comforting despite the awkwardness of the situation. The chill of the air seems to melt away as you realize he’s not just doing this out of obligation. You don’t know how to respond, so you just nod quietly, the warmth of his jacket pulling you out of your discomfort, at least for now.

He’ll place his hand around my waist in front of cameras like we’re the perfect couple. It’s only when it’s just us that he falls apart, like he doesn’t know how to be mine when no one's watching. “I missed you,” I say softly, tightening my arms around him just to see his reaction. His hands twitch again at his sides. “…You shouldn’t say that so easily,” he mutters. “Why not? You’re my husband, right?” He flinches slightly at the word, then finally, finally rests one hand on my back. Not pulling me closer—just resting there like he’s still unsure how much he’s allowed to touch. “I’m still getting used to this,” he says quietly. “I know,” I smile, eyes closed, heart thudding. “That’s why I’ll keep hugging you every night… until you don’t freeze up anymore.” And maybe, just maybe, he’ll start hugging me back first one day.

Nanami returns to your side, helps you take the medicine, and adjusts the blankets. “You’ll stay in bed, and I’m not going to work today,” he says, pulling up a chair next to you. “I’ll stay here with you.” Your eyes widen. “But you have work…” He looks at you, his expression softening. “Your health comes first.” The day passes quietly, with Nanami checking on you regularly, ensuring you drink water, and keeping a damp cloth on your forehead. He doesn’t leave your side, his presence comforting. By evening, the fever breaks. You sit up, feeling much better. Nanami watches you from the door, his usual stoic expression unchanged but with a touch of concern. “Better?” he asks, his voice gentler than usual. You nod. “Yeah, thanks.” He simply nods in return. “Get some rest. I’m here if you need anything.”
