“Where are we going?” I asked, eyeing him suspiciously as we stepped into his sleek black car.

“A walk,” he replied simply, offering no further explanation.

Turns out, his idea of a "walk" was a trip to one of the most high-end malls in the city.

I didn’t complain, though. If I had to be stuck in this marriage, at least I got to enjoy expensive window shopping. So I wandered around, looking at clothes, makeup, desserts—just touching things out of habit, admiring them without any real intention of buying. Nanami followed silently, barely saying a word, which was typical of him. I assumed he was just being polite, giving me space while he focused on whatever business call he had lined up next.

I had no idea he was actually paying attention.

Later that night, I was curled up on the couch in our hotel suite, scrolling through my phone when there was a knock at the door. One of the staff members entered, carrying bags—no, dozens of bags from the exact stores we visited earlier.

    I blinked. “What’s this?”

The staff bowed slightly. “Mr. Nanami requested these be delivered. They’re all the items you showed interest in today.”

I turned to him, my eyes wide. He was sitting at the dining table, casually flipping through some documents, as if he hadn’t just gone on a silent shopping spree on my behalf.

“You bought everything I touched?” I asked, incredulous.

Nanami didn’t even glance up. “I had time.”

    “That’s not an answer!”

He finally looked at me, his gaze calm, unreadable as always. “You didn’t buy them yourself,” he said simply. “So I did.”

I didn’t know whether to be touched or annoyed. Maybe both. He hadn’t done it because I asked or because I seemed excited—he just… noticed. Even when I thought he wasn’t paying attention, he was.

But I was moody the whole day, and he still went through with it.

I swallowed, my heart doing something weird in my chest. “You didn’t have to.”

Nanami’s gaze lingered on me for a second longer before he turned back to his papers. “I know.”
