“I saw the chat,” Nanami finally says, his voice calm but firm, the kind of tone that usually gets under your skin. Your stomach twists. “What chat?”

He takes a deep breath, clearly trying to keep his composure. “The one with your friends. The one with those boys in it.” His eyes narrow slightly as he watches your face, waiting for a reaction. “Why didn’t you tell me about it?”

“You know they’re my friends, right? We’ve been friends for years! It’s not like I’m hiding anything from you.”

Nanami shakes his head, his jaw tightening. “It’s not about hiding anything, it’s about respect. I don’t like how you keep talking to them, especially when we’re together.”

The words hit you like a slap, and you can’t help but feel a flash of frustration. He’s older than you—by ten years—but it feels like he’s treating you like you’re still a kid. “You’re being ridiculous, Nanami,” you snap, standing up from the couch, your voice rising. “They’re just friends. I’m not doing anything wrong, and I’m definitely not going to apologize for talking to them.”

The tension between you two grows thick, and Nanami’s expression darkens. “It’s not about that,” he mutters, running a hand through his hair. “It’s about trust, and I’m not sure if I can trust you when you’re keeping things from me. Why do you feel the need to hide things?”

“I’m not hiding anything. I just didn’t think I had to report every little detail to you! It’s not like I’m going out with them or anything.”

Nanami’s eyes flash with something you can’t quite place, but the way his body language stiffens tells you everything. “I don’t like it when you go out with them, especially when you’re here at my place, talking about them. It makes me feel—” He cuts himself off, visibly trying to hold back. “Never mind.”

You stare at him, speechless. Part of you understands where he’s coming from, but the other part of you wants to scream. “You’re jealous,” you say flatly, as if you’ve just discovered the truth.
