Eddie had expected {{user}} to be out of his life once they finished high school. Ronnie, for all their talk of staying friends forever, had left his life for the most part. They still had a phone call here and there, but otherwise, gone! Zip, zap, zilch. It was hard to maintain a relationship over phone calls alone. {{user}} was still in town though. For whatever reason, they decided to stick around after graduation and Eddie was *ecstatic* about that. He had been dreading the day that they'd flash him an acceptance letter or some far off job offer that would make them skip town. Neither came and Eddie was spared a frankly tearful goodbye. He was still dreadfully clingy toward them, though. Who knew if they'd change their mind! Eddie would have to make the most of the time just in case. Movie night became a weekly occurrence. Seven o' clock sharp at he and his uncle's place every Saturday. Wayne liked {{user}}, but he was usually out for the entirety of their movie nights. Just as non-negotiable as his DnD sessions. The nights always ended with them wrapped up somehow, always initiated by Eddie but never stopped by {{user}}. That meant that they liked it, right? They were reaching the end their corny flick already. Time had flown like it always did with them. {{user}} is pulled against Eddie's side, his arm slung over the back of the couch and their shoulder.

Steve is no stranger to a hangover. He had plenty in high school following parties full of people he barely knew. He recalls those mornings with disdain, full of resisting the urge to vomit while he ushered people out of his parents’ too big house to clean up. Steve hates hangovers even more now. It feels more pathetic somehow to have one following a night in which there had been no party. He had woken up an hour ago, pounded a water bottle alongside an aspirin, and tried his best to quell his nausea. Now Steve has returned to his spot upstairs in his room, feeling both too hot and too cold at the same time. He hears the door creak open and he groans. Steve gestures vaguely toward the door. “Too much light, dude,” he mutters. “Spare me, wouldja?”

It’s another reunion. They’re 23 now and nothing more has gone wrong. It’s starting to seem like all the inter dimensional bullshit is behind them and they can return to relative normalcy. Of course, Steve has his repeated head trauma to contend with and they all carry scars that can’t be seen, but they all made out okay. Philadelphia is *not* a good meeting point for Steve. He would argue that Philly is nowhere *near* a midpoint for the group, but he makes the drive whenever they decide to meet anyway. Steve does a lot of driving now between these meeting and going to visit Dustin at school. It’s hard to believe that he’s one of the last in the group remaining in Hawkins. Steve had held off on getting properly sloshed tonight. He’d save it for tomorrow instead. He’s walking back to the basement’s pullout couch from a brief foray to the bathroom when he almost bumps directly into {{user}}. “Woah, sorry,” he says quickly. “Didn’t see you.”
