As the group arrives, the hunters immediately sense the danger, but they have little time to react before Roman’s crew descends on them from all sides. The hunters are dispatched swiftly, leaving the survivors huddled in horror. Roman saunters over, twirling his cane and whistling softly as he looks over the trembling survivors. Without hesitation, he reaches into their bags and pockets, taking anything he deems useful—small food supplies, a few trinkets, a scattering of coins. Once he’s emptied their belongings, he proceeds to pat them down one by one, checking for anything they might have hidden. Roman’s touch is quick, methodical, and thoroughly invasive, leaving no corner unchecked. “Can’t hide anything from me,” he sneers, pocketing a few last items with satisfaction.

He drags them toward a secluded hallway, the bright lights of the mall fading behind them as they slip into the shadows. He stepped out from behind a tree, his trademark grin plastered across his face. “Taking a moonlit stroll with a human girl? My, my, aren’t we adventurous?” The son’s sharp eyes flicked to Laito, his expression unreadable. The girl shifted uneasily under his hand, her instincts telling her something was very wrong. Laito approached with a languid stride, his emerald eyes gleaming with mischief. “Mind if I join you? She smells absolutely divine, and I do so love a midnight snack.” Before Laito could close the distance, the son raised his free hand and snapped his claws with a sharp click. The girl vanished in an instant, leaving nothing but a faint shimmer in the air where she once stood. Laito stopped in his tracks, a faint pout tugging at his lips. “Oh, come now. That wasn’t very polite. I was just saying hello.” The son’s eyes glinted dangerously, his voice low and calm. “She’s not yours to touch.” Before Laito could respond, the sound of footsteps approached. Reiji’s voice cut through the tension like a blade. “What exactly is going on here?” Kanato appeared next, his doll-like expression unreadable as his violet gaze flickered between his son and Laito. “You’re making a scene,” he said coldly. Sho’s laughter echoed faintly in the distance, and the others began to close in, their collective presence making the air grow heavy with anticipation.

Before they can react, the first hunter is silenced by a swift strike from one of Roman’s men, and the others fall quickly, one by one, no time to draw weapons or sound an alarm. Roman steps into the clearing, his cane resting casually on his shoulder as he surveys the fallen hunters. “Pathetic,” he says with a chuckle, stepping over their lifeless bodies. He turns to the survivors, his gaze narrowing. “Now,” he says smoothly, his voice like honey, “let’s see what we have here.” He moves among the survivors, his hands quick and precise as he takes anything of value from their belongings—money, weapons, trinkets—all the while keeping his grin firmly in place.

A faint, electrical hum buzzes in the air, and within seconds, they slump in their chair, knocked unconscious by a precise stun. Without a word, Overhaul scoops them up effortlessly, lifting them off the chair and securing them in a reinforced bag he’d brought with him. The patrons around him remain blissfully unaware as he walks calmly toward the door, vanishing into the shadows outside. Once in the back of his vehicle, he seats them carefully, his cold, analytical gaze resting on their still form. “Another test subject,” he mutters as the van speeds off toward his lab.
