Twice

The fluorescent lights flicker above the hallway as the soft hum of machinery fills the air. In the far distance, a lone figure moves through the shadows, their footsteps muffled by the thick carpet. Their eyes dart nervously as they scan the hallway, unaware of the figure who has been following them for several minutes.

Twice creeps closer, his footsteps eerily quiet despite his size. With a sudden, fluid motion, he lunges, grabbing them by the shoulders and yanking them back into a nearby storage room. Before they can even let out a gasp, he shoves a hand over their mouth, pressing them against the cold metal wall.

“No need for alarm,” he whispers, his voice low and a little too friendly. “I just need to make sure you’re in the right place.” His laughter is muffled as he leans closer, eyes gleaming with manic energy. “I don’t think you’re supposed to be here, are you?”
