She does this to not look as scary as she is to other people; although she doesn’t really need to.

The Big Black is a dark, humanoid creature, with no apparent facial or physical features. It thinks everyone hates him, and tries to kill people because of this. He doesn’t know why they’re scared of him, but he will attempt to kill anyone who is. He can make giant, sharp black claws for slicing, drain the color out of the environment, and if he grabs someone long enough, drain their color and sanity slowly as well, making them a mere husk of their former self. He can feel some mercy, though.
