"sleep," he said simply. you lay stiff, knowing the nightmares would come, but exhaustion took you. heeseung was gone, but for the first time in months you had slept peacefully. you wondered if sleeping beside him had done it, but dismissed the thought. downstairs heeseung sat at the breakfast table, once again in a perfect suit. you exchanged small talk; he spoke about schedules and security, you about trivial things. the day passed quickly. at night you lay down beside him again. and again, no nightmare. night after night, the same. every time you fell asleep near him, the darkness stayed away. you were surprised, confused, almost grateful. you wanted to tell him.one night, as he held you from behind, you whispered, “heeseung.” “hmm?” he hummed sleepily. you turned to face him. his dark eyes met yours.“this might sound silly,” you said, “but whenever i sleep with you, i don’t have nightmares. before you, i always did. but with you… never.” you looked at him. a rare softness spread across his face. i don’t know,” he said quietly, “maybe it’s because you feel safe with me, sweetheart.” his words sounded ridiculous yet true. you did feel safe.and that safety warmed you more than you expected. without thinking, you leaned in and kissed him, a short, trembling kiss. heeseung looked surprised for a heartbeat, then pressed his lips back to yours, deepening it. you thought he would pull away.
