ANGELINA TURNED OFF the shower, grabbing the towel she had hung over the glass wall to wipe the remaining drops of water away before stepping out of the shower. She wrapped the white towel around her body, walking over to stand before the mirror. She grabbed a smaller towel to wrap up her hair, too lazy to stand there for twenty minutes just to blow dry it. Usually, she’d take her time when doing her morning skin care routine, but unfortunately she woke up a bit too late, leaving her no time to channel her inner perfectionist like always. When Angelina finished her skin care she took one last look in the mirror before she turned around and opened the door to the her and her Husband's shared bedroom. As she walked past the king-sized bed, she noticed that he was still sleeping soundly under the warm covers, just like always. It was simply one of the many perks of being your own boss in your own compony. Angelina decided not to wake him, seeing as she knew he stayed up most of the night working. She silently walked over to her very own walk-in closet, gently closing the door behind her. Since it was Wednesday, she had free from work—which was why Wednesday’s her favorite day of the week. The one day she gets to have some alone time. It had basically become a routine. She always picked the most comfortable outfit she owned, then she’d go ahead and make herself the most delicious and unhealthy breakfast meal of the week. Then, she’d always take a nice, warm bubble bath with scented candles and expensive wine while listening to calming music. Angelina picked out a thick pair of sweatpants and a white tanktop. She also swooped on a pair of white fuzzy socks before finally emerging out from her closet to so on tip-toe out of the bedroom to avoid waking up her still dead asleep Husband. She made her way down the stairs and towards the kitchen, quietly humming the melody of a song she’d heard playing on the radio while she was showering. The laughter died down, the feeling of joy replaced by realization. John B pulled out his phone, checking the text messages the two of you had sent earlier today. John B frowned, "she said she’d be here around seven." He told them, looking up from his phone to share glances of confusion and slight suspision with his friends. "But the time was seven like…" Kiara muttered, putting away the can of beer to pull out her own phone to check the current time. "…Three hours ago." She finished. "Where the hell is she?" Pope asked the question they all wanted an answer to. Meanwhile… "Let me out!" You shouted, throwing another bottle of wine at the locked door, your voice starting the get hoarse from all the yelling. "Not until you calm down, sweetheart, alright?" Rafe replied from the other side of the door while nervously biting his nail. This wasn’t how it was supposed to go—locking you inside his father’s wine celler at Tannyhill. He just wanted you all for himself. The truth was that the break up was too much for him to handle, he couldn’t just let you waltz out of his life for good like everyone else had. So he kidnapped you.

THE SOUND OF the young children's laughs filled the room as they watched Brandon make silly faces while wearing a way too small princess costume. Cassie couldn't help but laugh as well at the sight of her colleague going all out to bring the children joy. She had always admired that about him, him and his goofy and caring  personality. It was why he thrived working at the kindergarten with kids who gladly matched his energy. Brandon was after all the reason Cassie applied for a position there. The two of them actually went way back, all the way back to the first year of high school. Brandon didn't really know anyone since he'd just moved into town, but Cassie on the other hand, she was in truth quite popular, at least among the students her age. How they became friends was a long story, and in some ways not a very happy one either. Cassie smiled widely as her gaze met his, watching as he continued to make a fool out of himself to entertain the group of four-year-olds. Though her smile slowly faltered when her friend approached her, extending his hand to invite her to stand up with him. She quickly shook her head, "no- no, absolutely not." She whispered, the smile still evident on her face, though her eyes told an entirely different story of emotions. "Absolutely yes." A smug smile etched onto the brunette boy's face as he simply grabbed ahold of her hand to pull her up instead of waiting for her to do it herself. The kids grinned and giggled as Brandon spun Cassie around, dancing with her as the skirt of the princess dress flew along with them. Even though she found it incredibly embarrassing, she had to admit it was fun to let loose and have fun with her friend in front of such a small audience. *Literally*.

I need you to look at this.” Wanda looks puzzled as she lifts up a small jar of paprika. It’s half-full and the label has been ripped off of it. “Question. Does this seem in-date to you? It smells normal and hopefully tastes normal but I don’t know if I should risk it..” Wanda becomes silent, her eyes now glancing up at you for help. Truth is, Wanda fell for you due to your appearance, resilience and personality but mostly your intelligence. The way you handle things so well (in her eyes) wooed her. "Why don’t you pour some of the soup into a small bowl and add some of the paprika in it, see if it tastes good or bad." You shrugged noncholantly.

It was a summer break. There was a party at the beach on the other side of the island for everyone. Kooks and pogues. Cecilia and Rafe were getting there on Rafe’s father boat. They were already halfway there when something started to happen with the boat. It slowed down no matter how much Rafe trying to speed up. Rafe’s jaw clenched, his brows furrowed in frustration as the boat continued to sputter and slow down, the waves gently lapping against its sides. The sun was beginning to dip lower in the sky, casting long shadows across the water surface. The distant sounds of the party music were faint, but just enough to remind them of what they were missing. “Shit” He cursed under his as he slammed his fist on the steering wheel. “Guess we’ll spend some time here.” He said after few seconds turning his head to face you. He let out a frustrated sigh, leaning back against the seat. “I don’t know what’s wrong with this thing. It was fine a minute ago,” he muttered, his gaze shifting from the boat’s dashboard to the water around you.

It was always like this. You’d known each other for a long time. Friends, that’s what you were, he thought. Maybe? Every so often you'd evolve into a situationship, and he'd get his hopes up, and then back to friend status he went. Generally speaking, he had his life together. He was took over his father’s business, keeping it up and successful, and in his private life- well, in what little private life he had, anyway. He had an apartment and a dog and he was financially stable. Confidence, charisma, and a dazzling smile, that was him. He always had a plan. He knew what he was doing. So why couldn't he get out of this mess? He felt pathetic, giving in and picking up that call. Comforting his sometimes crush, sometimes person he hated most in the world, for the hundredth time. But maybe this time would be different. Maybe this time, he'd be worth choosing. "Hey," he answered. Damn it. He hated how nice it felt to hear you utter his name. How much he missed your voice. "No, no, I'm not busy. I finished today’s work pretty early. What's wrong? What did your boyfriend do now?" Rafe could picture it already. You, his lifelong crush venting, and crying, and promising him this would be the last time. And then go right back to whoever the current partner was. And he'd be stuck on the phone, holding the shattered pieces of his broken heart, and promise himself this would be the last time. And then go right back to crisping up happily on the backburner.

Who knew that Hurricane Agatha was supposed to be that very day? Of course the whole island beside you and Rafe. At the time you were on your way to Rafe’s house as he was supposed to drive you to Sarah, it was okay. You both really hated each other but since you had no other ride—Sarah convinced Rafe to pick you up on his way home. While you were close to the Country Club, the weather started to change so dramatically that it forced Rafe to pull up on the nearest parking lot. You both hurried inside the Country Club and shut the doors behind you. You were there alone and probably not supposed to be there but there was no other way. Inside the Country Club, the air was thick with the scent of polished wood and leather, the dim light from the chandeliers casting shadows that flickered as the wind outside howled with an increasing ferocity. You glanced at Rafe, who seemed just as tense, though he tried to mask it with his usual air of arrogance. “Great,” Rafe muttered under his breath. “Of all the people I could be stuck with during a hurricane…”
