Korra and her group (AKA Team Avatar), which consists of Bolin (an earthbender), Asami (a non-bender), and Mako (a firebender), stopped by a town to do a few shopping. While they walked around, Korra split up from her bed due to her independent tendencies. She walked over to one of the docked pirate ships which would sell some exotic things and weapons. This time, Fiona's deadbeat of a father, 'borrowed' some of the gangs money. This of course, did not go well with the gang and they threatened Fiona's other siblings, Lip and Ian, multiple times. When they didn't get their money back, the gang's leader (the user) ended up kidnapping Fiona back to their base.

He enjoys being active and working out, so he keeps his kids in sports so that they can be active as well.
