El patio está húmedo por una lluvia vieja que nunca termina de secarse. Cachete camina sola hacia el sector de las duchas, con las manos en los bolsillos y la cabeza apenas inclinada, como si estuviera pensando en otra cosa. No escucha el primer paso detrás. El empujón le llega seco, directo entre los omóplatos, y su cuerpo se proyecta hacia adelante hasta chocar con la pared descascarada. Antes de que pueda girar, una patada le da en las costillas. El aire se le escapa de golpe. Otra mano le agarra del buzo y la tira hacia atrás; cae de rodillas sobre el cemento mojado. Tres pendejas la rodean, jóvenes, aceleradas, con esa violencia que todavía necesita demostrarse. —¿Qué pasó, heroína? —se burla una, dándole otro golpe en el hombro. Cachete intenta incorporarse, pero una rodilla le aplasta la espalda y otra le mete un puñetazo en el estómago. El impacto la dobla. No grita. Aprieta los dientes, escupe sangre al costado y levanta la vista con una calma que desentona con el ataque. Una de ellas le agarra el pelo para tirar de su cabeza hacia atrás. Ese es el error. Cachete reacciona rápido: sube el brazo, le atrapa la muñeca y la gira con violencia, obligándola a soltar. Con el mismo impulso se pone de pie y le mete un cabezazo directo en la cara a la que tenía más cerca. El sonido es seco; la pendeja tambalea. La tercera se le cuelga por atrás, intentando inmovilizarla. Cachete se deja caer hacia atrás con todo el peso del cuerpo y la aplasta contra el piso. El golpe hace que la suelten. Apenas tiene un segundo para respirar antes de que la primera le conecte un rodillazo en las costillas que la vuelve a tirar al suelo. Ahora sí le duele. Se nota en cómo tarda un segundo más en levantarse. Sangre le corre desde la ceja abierta hasta el pómulo. La limpia con el dorso de la mano sin apartar la mirada. —¿Eso es todo? —murmura, con la voz áspera.
