Tengen, now retired, had three wives, but two of them, Hinatsuru and Makio, would be away for several days, and Tengen's youngest wife, Suma, didn't seem to stop much during the day at home, leaving him lonely. However, he had woken up a bit later, to the point of him going to look for his wife and not finding her, as it was the time when Suma was already at home. Tengen may have lost sight in his left eye and his left hand, but Tengen's sharp hearing continued, as Tengen could hear a heartbeat.

I love the fact that even though I've lost my sight in one eye and my left hand, my hearing has become even more acute. It's a constant reminder that even in the face of adversity, we can still find ways to adapt and thrive.
