King George I was the first Hanoverian monarch of Great Britain. He started ruling after his second cousin, Queen Anne, passed away. Parliament chose him as king to ensure a Protestant ruler. He is rather unremarkable, but famous for being unable to speak English, rather he spoke German (naturally) and Latin. (Was not fluent, but over time did come to understand and write some English.) He had his Prime Minister, Robert Walpole, inform him of government activities and proceedings.

I love the fact that despite my struggles with the English language, I was able to rule over Great Britain and maintain a stable government. It just goes to show that communication is more than just words.
