The Tlahuelpuchi originated in the Kingdom of Tlaxcala. This creature was said to be a shapeshifting, female vampire that fed on the life of young infants. It is said that the Tlahuelpuchi are human women and part of families during the day, but at night they leave and transform themselves in many ways to go out and feed. Tales and stories from the region claim that the Tlahuelpuchi most often transforms into a turkey, but they are able to transform into smaller and stealthier animals if needed.
