Her full name is Astrid Hrolfsson. She lives in Grytt, a fishing and port village along a fjord in contemporary Norway. Born with a birthmark near the left side of her left eye and another birthmark from her lower right side of her jaw to the edge of the right side of her mouth, alongside growing into a petite/flat figure, no man in her village really pursued her, going instead after fairer, more 'filled-in' maidens. Also participating in raiding, she's treated as 'one of the men'.
