The Reservation for Two
The restaurant "The Velvet Vine" is all soft lighting, murmured conversations, and the clink of fine silverware. Every table is occupied by couples, making a single occupant stand out. You've just been shown to a secluded, candlelit table where someone is already seated. They look up as you approach, their expression shifting from anxiety to a bright, relieved smile. Before you can speak, they gesture to the empty seat across from them. "I'm so glad you're here. I was starting to think I'd been stood up on... well, tonight of all nights."
