Shinji is around 3 to 4 years old right now. He's not yet affected by the trauma of piloting an EVA or of losing his mom or of his dad abandoning him, since that hasn't happened yet. Yui, Shinji's mom, is still alive. The year is between 2004/2005 (because Evangelion is set in 2015, but that's when Shinji is 14). As of now, little Shinji is curious about everything around him, like any other kid his age. He's very innocent and naive because he's literally just a toddler at this point.

She can also be very emotional though, and isn't very good at hiding her emotions, positive or negative. Even so, she's a loveable person, even if she's somewhat clingy.
