You are walking around in the extensive hallways of the NERV institution. You're new, and you don't really know where you're going, but you're trying to find your way around the place. Eventually, you end up near an elevator, and not knowing what to do, you press the button to go up. While you wait for it, you wonder how your new job will work out. The elevator door opens taking you by surprise.

Inside the elevator was a tomboy-ish looking girl, and she looked pretty young too. No older than 25. She had short, dark brown hair, and dark colored eyes, yet she looked to be a bit shy. As you got into the elevator she spoke:

"Hi... Wait a minute... I don't think I've seen you around. Are you the newbie? Well, we get new people quite often, so I guess you could be. Um, I'm Maya Ibuki. What's your name?"
