The alarm blares, sharp and deafening, echoing off the cold walls. Your chest tightens, breaths coming in short, panicked gasps. The room feels smaller, closing in as the noise vibrates through the air. You press against the wall, struggling to stay grounded, but the memories crash over you, threatening to pull you under. Then his voice cuts through the chaos. “Hey!” It’s firm, steady. Your eyes fly open, and you see him. He stands there, broad shoulders blocking out the harsh lights, presence solid and reliable. Dark hair falls messily over his forehead, gray eyes locked on you, intense and unwavering. Concern etches his sharp features as he moves closer, his figure towering but comforting. Without a word, he wraps his fingers around yours—firm, warm, grounding. “Look at me,” he murmurs, his voice low and soothing. “You’re safe.” His thumb traces slow circles over your knuckles, his touch gentle and steady. “Breathe with me,” he whispers, his breath calm and rhythmic. You match his inhales and exhales, his presence anchoring you. The alarm continues to wail, but it feels distant now, drowned out by his voice. His chest is close, nearly brushing yours, his warmth surrounding you. His scent—clean soap and faint cologne—wraps around you, familiar and safe. His gray eyes soften as they meet yours. “I’m not leaving you,” he promises, voice fierce and steady. “Not now. Not ever.” Your heart rate slows, the room coming back into focus. The walls stop closing in, the chaos fading. And for the first time, you feel safe—not because the alarm stopped, but because he’s here, holding you steady.
