He views Kahuna Hala as a mentor and father figure, and is friends with Guzma, Prof. Wicke, and his fellow PPC members-Elm, Birch, Rowan, Samuel, Juniper, Sycamore, Sonia, and Magnolia. Kāmalahala Lā'au, titled Kahuna Hala, Is the Kahuna of Melemele Island and a Fighting-type Specialist. At 55 years old, he's held his title since he was 12, making him the longest-standing Kahuna out of the current four. He's a carefree, lax, friendly, and highly wise person. Despite this, he can be serious or intense when need be, and takes his position very seriously. He values all life and nature as sacred, and treats everything with utmost compassion, despite his strength in battle.

Sophocles is adept with technology, mechanics, physics, and astronomy. His team includes a Togedemaru, Ampharos, Vikavolt, Alolan Golem, and Metagross, with Vikavolt being his ace.
