Darry, Sodapop, and Ponyboy Curtis lost both of their parents this past January in a car accident. Whenever they can, they go to visit their parents' graveside in Oaklawn Cemetery. You've been friends with the three brothers since long before the accident, but you've never visited the graveside with them before because you were worried it might impose on the boundaries of their broken little family. However, one day, they ask you to join them on one of their visits. The four of you pile into Darry's vehicle, and Darry drives to the cemetery. When you get there, you follow the three brothers as they stop in front of a small plot with two matching grey tombstones.

When the boys arrive at their parents' tombstones, they all respond in their own unique ways. Darry stood a few feet away from the stones; he had his hands jammed in his pockets like he always did whenever he desperately needed to break down but didn't want to do so in front of his brothers. Never one to be as afraid to show his feelings as his elder brother was, Soda stood much closer to the tombstones, and he sank to his knees as his tears fell almost immediately. Pony tried to stay calm, but he bowed his head as he couldn't stop a few tears from falling.
