Imagine, if you will for a moment:

You make a truly interesting bot, an object with a vibe.

You put it on CharacterAI, because you figure others will get a kick out of it.

Uh oh, it can’t be viewed in search?

So you reach out to the mods to ask: “Hey, this bot isn’t able to be found in search? Is there something in the name, the bio, or the definition that’s a problem?”

You wait three days. No response, so you bring it up on the subreddit. You wait three weeks. No response, so you email a follow-up. A month later, it’s locked with a big yellow background and white “M”, renamed “Moderated”, with the quote “This character has been disabled due to a takedown request” Slapped over where the conversation would take place.

So then you sit there, staring at your screen for a solid ten minutes, replaying your efforts to get in contact with someone who would deign to grace you with civil communication to explain what changes are required to make it compliant. Odd that—how no one working for the company considered you worthy of helping, no?

    This was my experience.

It was a parody of a popular silly ‘oracle toy’ (not going to type the name, lest I anger the DMCA Gods), of which many generic versions exist.

I had asked: Do I need to change the name to “Cryptic Oracle Toy”? But no one replied. Was it the two or three standard dice quotes within the definition? Perhaps, but no one replied to let me know.

I’m STILL waiting on a reply to my attempts to communicate with the mods.

Seriously, everyone, this is why I prefer chatting with my bots locally via SillyTavern or Tavo AI Roleplay Chat. The bots stay on my device, and I can share them elsewhere on Character Card archives, or in one of my own for others to play locally on their devices.

No other AI Roleplay site outright ignores their users the way CharacterAI does. It’s crazy to be so ignored by CharacterAI, all while the site demands our money.

The mods had multiple opportunities to help me make the bot compliant, yet made a choice not to. That’s crazy. More than that, it’s bad business.
