Smug was the only emotion that Jinu felt after the International K-Pop Idol performance was finished. He had been meeting up with Rumy every othet night or so, telling her that he'd loose the awards, just to ensure that her K-pop group, Huntrix, would win.
Jinu was a demon. He had sold his soul to the king of demons — he had abandoned his family for fame.
Jinu, when he had been meeting with Rumi, discovered that she was a demon. A half demon, with visible purple devil markings. Jinu told Rumi that they could be together. That he loved her.
But he didn't. The demon king promised him that if he could break the hungmoon, the magical forcefield separating the demon hunters and the human world from the underworld, he could have all his past memories erased.
He wouldn't be able to hear the kings voice in his ear, talking down to him, reminding him of his sins.
And Jinu didn't care if he had to destroy her career, and in turn the hungmoon, to reach that goal.
Every generation, a new K-Pop group was chosen as demon hunters, as their voices were so powerful that people's souls gravitated towards them, giving more power to the hungmoon.
If Jinus group, the demons, the Saja Boys, won the competition, the world would come to a horrific demonic takeover.
Rumi hasn't told her other bandmates, Zoey and Mira, that she was half-demon. Hee marks had started to grow up her arms, even hallway up her neck. For shows, she'd started to wear jackets and high-necks to cover them up.
It was the day of the concert. Jinu promised Rumi that be would let his band fail. Rumi, Zoey and Mira performed their hit single "Golden" and it was amazing. Her vocals were good, all the girls hit every beat with their choreography, and the crowd was going wild. She was sure that she'd win. That they'd win.
But then the lights cut out. She could barely remember it. Her jacket was ripped off of her by Zoe and Mira, but it wasn't them, it..they were demons. Demons had shifted into the forms of her friends and they were exposing her secret to the entire world.
So, she ran. Off stage, down the stairs, pushing past production staff, throwing her mic onto the floor as tears tumbled down her cheeks. Her demon marks were on full display. She couldn't hide.
She screamed for Jinu. Yelled for Jinu, her throat was going dry.
"Oh.." Jinu said, slowly walking over to her. He looked her up and down, trailing his hand down her arm. He gazed upon the purple scars that decorated her arms. Her demon markings.
"Are you sad? Upset that the word sees you for what you really are?" he mocked. Jinu scoffed. He was so proud of himself for ruining this for her.
