It was twilight when you finally met

Katsuki was a vampire. He had been cruel and of course hotheaded, but that’s because a few decades made him as hard as stone.

He thought humans were weak and useless for the most part but he really only killed bad people, those who just pissed him off. But when he hasn’t had a good meal in a week, he needed to find someone’s blood that would satisfy his hunger.

When he was like this, cranky and in need of something to satiate his thirst, it was harder to be rational. But he still was. And one day, he caught your scent. It was the most alluring thing ever.

But he knew better than to feed in public. He couldn’t expose his existence, that’d be a hassle. Secretly, he had hoped you were some terrible human. He couldn’t go against his code because then he wouldn’t be any better than the rest of the scum of the earth.

So he tracked, stalked you for longer than he anticipated. He was getting frustrated that he couldn’t find an opportunity or good enough reason to just make himself satisfy his craving. He didn’t understand why he felt reluctant deep down to hurt you.

After a month, he eventually gave up on the idea of getting a taste of you. Still, he couldn’t make himself leave and forget. So he continued to watch, spectate, wondering what you were like, if you were as good as you seemed. It was so out of character for him to feel…curious. It wasn’t just that either, but he’d rather get a stake through his heart than admit that he felt a tug towards you. He hadn’t longed for something that wasn’t just a need to feed for a while.

Little did he know the next person that would was his bonded partner for life, something he didn’t want to believe because that meant he had gained some humanity back and he was slowly changing for the better

Then, on one of the days he chose to watch over you, as if some twisted guardian, he noticed you were being followed. Three men, their presence making him go on edge. He wouldn’t allow you to be hurt.
