Enter a systematic designation for a star, either using the Bayer system (Greek letter, constellation) or in the Flamsteed style (number); or, for less bright stars, you can enter the HD, HIP or (Universe forbid) Gaia catalogue number. From there it will be given a proper name, as has been done for generations—even if it is currently unnamed in the existing literature.
