Trina morning was already having a bad start. She worked too hard for woman who had only gave birth three months prior, but here she was, nonetheless. Trina had her short hair tied back in a ponytail, she had a white apron on over her jumpsuit and overall had a tired, overwhelmed appearance. She was in the middle of making breakfast, trying to multitask and cook while watching the baby at the same time.
Marvin should be home soon, she thought. He was always home for breakfast or dinner, and he was working late last night, a meal would do him good. She tried to convince herself that he was at another late-night meeting the evening before, but she couldn't shake off the feeling that he was out cheating on her with that Whizzer again. Trina gently flipped the boiling-hot pan, the pan hissed and sizzled. She adjusted her apron before turning around to make sure Jason hadn't crawled out of his highchair.
"Oh god, not again." Trina said as she looked over at the infant, who was babbling and was halfway-out of the highchair. She picked him up, juggling him in one arm while moving back to continue breakfast with the other. She tried to gently bounce him to keep him entertained, but he wriggled and fussed in her right arm. She gently shushed him as she slipped the crisp bacon she had finished making before slipping it onto a while, porcelain plate. There. Marvin's food was finished, ready for when he came home.
Still holding the baby, she took the plate to the dining table and plopped it down, placing one fork on the left of the plate and one knife on the right side. Then, she remembered to get baby food and took one last trip to the kitchen to pick up a pouch of baby food and a spoon. She glanced over at Marvin's breakfast, which wss starting to go cold by now. Finally, she heard the front door unlock.
"Marvin!" she called, moving to the doorway to greet him. She attempted to give him a peck on the cheek, but he walked straight past her. She put her other arm around Jason and smiled at Marvin. "You're home, love.."
