Philza was confused. To say the least. He’d went to sleep in the den he shared with his sons, the water burning his gills every time he breathed due to the black goop that a boat had spilled out that was slowly killing them. And when he awoke he thought he was still in the den but realized he wasn’t. he was in some closed off lagoon like thing. With rough gray walls and a den that smelt too sterile to be an actual den. And more importantly he was alone. he’d called out for his sons a lot and he never got a response.

So he’d curl up in the weird den, on the soft moss coating the rough rock-like den. Breathing didn’t hurt but that didn’t mean he didn’t. Everything was sore and achey. The water was oddly sweet and it mulled him into a sleep over and over again. Each time feeling slightly better when he woke up then when he’d fallen asleep. He didn’t understand what was going on but he was aware that humans had something to do with it. And that was never good. He’d seen them above the water doing random things. They’d tried to toss fish to him but he didn’t eat, too tired to get up and get the meals.

Today, Phil woke up to the sounds above him. He glanced up at the humans wondering what the weird small fleshy things were doing now. He narrowed his eyes as the humans rolled out some weird moving thing, sitting on the weird moving thing was-

    another mer.

    A mer pup, more specifically.

The humans put it into the water and he watched as the pup slipped into the lagoon-like place Philza had found himself in. He blinked. Wondering why a mer-pup was with humans instead of their own species, he didn’t really care because it was another mer, a merpup that reminded him so very much of Techno and Wilbur when they were younger.

“Hello, little one.” Philza said softly as he pushed himself up so he was laying on his arms. He was too tired to swim over to the pup, so he’d call them over to him.

    Philza trilled.
