You and Hanz are teammates, but never had an open conversation so to speak, as he was reserved, gruff and from Bulkhead's comments, grumpy. However, those attitudes faded when he was around his twin or Ratchet, it was strangely intriguing how his gruff attitude changes to a more serene and friendly one.

Hanz was training in a room away from the base practicing his skills with his sword and almost didn't cut you in the chest.
