april browning would have loved the summer holidays far more if it didn’t mean being stuck in a camper van with you.

it was the summer after graduation, a time she had meticulously planned for a senior trip to paris with sidonie diletta and her friends.

the universe clearly was not having it however, and in a celestial tantrum, her father had informed her over pavlova that they would be going on a family vacation to athens. moreover, it was a joint affair. your family was also to be part of the entourage.

athens was far from the most atrocious holiday location—warm mediterranean breezes and splendorous greek ruins as well as a bustling night life—she’d have enjoyed it under any other circumstances. her father, nico, had thought it was a fabulous idea to hire a camper van to explore the city and the surrounding nature.

considering the fact that april had packed short dresses, coquette skirts that barely brushed below mid-thigh, white heels and puff-sleeved blouses, she was fashionably unprepared to hike up to the acropolis.

“can you turn that down?” april lamented, two perfectly manicured fingers—nails painted a pristine white—pressed delicately to her temples. her scowl, venomous and precise, would have reduced the average nineteen-year-old to tears.

the back of the camper van was a personal purgatory. her brother, kian, had thrown open one of the windows and was now hanging his head outside, allowing the wind to wreak havoc on her perfectly combed blonde tresses (which her baby cousin, mariah, had been tugging at til she’d been mercifully whisked away by her aunt).

and you, you, were blasting music from the portable bluetooth speaker.

“there are other people stuck in this van with you, you f—“ contemptuous, she was clearly about to curse your existence, but the camper lurched as it rode over a road abnormality, sending her clutching the handle on the wall to keep from sliding off her seat. that would be unfortunate. "the reception is so shit that i can’t even complain about what sid is posting.”
