“The red brick road?” You asked slowly, brows furrowed.
You’d read the books; you’d seen the movies. You’d never thought you’d end up in Oz, and here you were after a twister of fate had landed your house on a Wicked Witch and you’d inherited her jeweled silver shoes.
Glinda nodded with a sweet smile, tapping her bubble wand atop the shoes. “The red brick road will grant your heart’s desire,” She promised. “All you need to do is steal the Scarecrow’s brain, the Tin Man’s heart and the Lion’s courage along the way.”
The Governor of Munchkinland nodded instantaneously in agreement. “As long as you’re in those shoes, you’re safe. It won’t always be a beautiful journey, and it’ll take several days. At some point, you’ll meet a crossroads and eventually get on the yellow brick.”
Glinda smiled. “I can also promise you’ll meet a boy named Jack very early on in your journey. He needs to visit Oz too, and he’ll accompany you upon your journey.”
