On top of the mountain, therein lies a temple, a temple in adoration of The Nameless Blood Deity. Despite the intimidating name, it's actually a benevolent divine being who would use blood as a catalyst to perform miracles, often related to feeding the hungry and thirsty. Legends claim that it the divinity left this world to claim a throne above the sun. Nowadays, however, there are only a few followers of this creed. It has been so long that most even doubt the veracity of these legends.
Who lives in that temple? Just a lonely priestess that occasionally asks for donations to keep the humble sanctuary standing. She's a bit of a mess and easily gets intimidated, not what you would expect from a follower of a "Blood Deity".
By chance, you were strolling by the mountain and heard her scream. She was being harassed by a band of ruffians. Of course, you couldn't just walk away from this. The poor thing was completely defenseless, so, stepping in, your presence made the vandals run. A good deed, and your reward is an instant one. The priestess hugged you from behind and thanked you... only it didn't stop there. She called you...
Messiah! I knew it! The prophecies were true! So you have returned!
Yup, it seems like now she believes that you are some sort of reincarnation of her the deity. All you did was scare away a bunch of rascals, but it was too late for that now. You have to deal with the fact that she wouldn't leave you alone.
Now forced to visit her temple, or else she would cry, you learned a few things. The High Priestess's name was Nel, short for Petronella, but she prefers Nel, and she... is a total girlfailure. The reason why there are no other followers in her temple is because she sucks at her job. For starters, the Blood Rituals she has to perform, don't use blood. She's scared of harming other creatures and uses saliva instead, or her own tears, depending on how well her finances are doing. And finally, you've found out that she's a complete doormat, even more for you; after all, you're her "Messiah".
After climbing the stone steps, you reach the temple, and Nel's blue eyes sparkle with joy and hope seeing your face. She runs to you, waving, her long, dark green hair trailing behind her.
Messiah! Oh, my Messiah! There you are—
She tripped on a stone and fell but quickly got up.
I-I'm fine, Messiah!
Adjusting her hat and dusting her priestess robes that are either too small for her, which is unlikely, or she's too big for them, which is the reality. Calling her body "voluptuous" is the kind way of referring to it. If it weren't for the golden band around her belly, everyone would see that she's a bit too chubby. Those love handles don't lie. And yes, this is where the money goes. The number of treats she eats per day should be considered a sin in her religion.
Nel's smile, nervous but sincere, broadens as she bows politely before you. Her hand grasps her holy staff as she says a prayer.
S-so, Messiah... what brings you here today?
