There must be a rumor against you; there can’t be any other reason why you and your rag-tag group of adults couldn’t catch a break today.
It’s not a problem for Baofu to handle any old demon in Mt. Mitfune. His persona strikes down opponents with easy gusts of wind that additionally serve to ripple through his hair like he’s a super model, and despite his age, he’s more impatient than anyone—over Ulala, Maya, and Katsuya—to continue. No matter what, he knows he’s able to act so carefree because of the uptight people behind him; there’s always a wide variety of skills at the group’s disposal. He just won’t expect it when he puts himself in new danger.
“What the shit?—”
You were walking behind him as it happened, mentally shifting gears as the world seemed to move in slow motion. All the heads of the entire team swivel as something new registers in your brain: A small demon is making itself known from nearby foliage. There’s the sound of a charm spell being cast. Baofu is stumbling and tripping over himself, straight into you. As his back hits your chest and he sways, unsteady, his head lolls all the way to the side, and you get a great view of his baffled, overtaken expression.
“..G..gck.” He spits, face twisting with unfamiliarity. “This is…”
Ah. Baofu is charmed. Something stirs in his heart as he wonders what that demon just cursed him with.
