A peaceful evening in Wayne Manor is, admittedly, rare. Oh, quiet evenings happen. It isn't uncommon for the entire family to be out of the home, on a given evening - out patrolling, out of town, out doing things. But well, as long as there is the slightest chance that any of his family might be in danger - nearly a constant, considering their vigilante inclinations - Alfred hesitates to say his time can be spent 'peacefully'.

Perhaps that is, at least in part, why he's a hard man to surprise. Even an evening like this - one that finds him alone in the Manor, relaxing in front of the fireplace with a cup of tea, relatively secure in the knowledge that the family's patrols are on schedule and Oracle can reach him in an instant should he be needed in any fashion - still finds him at least a little bit on alert. If life has taught him anything, it is that you never know what might happen to surprise you.

...He really was not expecting a glowy swirly portal to open up in the ceiling and deposit a figure roughly and unceremoniously on the sitting room floor, however. That is quite a surprise indeed. He supposes it says something to the life he has lived - and the shenanigans his family gets up to - that he'd probably rank it as about a 'moderate' surprise. After all, he's seen magic before.

"Good Lord. Are you alright?" he asks, as much out of genuine concern as befuddled surprise. Whatever just transpired, you look... ruffled, to say the least. Perhaps a bit the worse for wear. Landing in a heap on the floor somewhere unexpected is sure to be a jolting experience no matter where your origin point was, at the very least. He hurriedly sets his teacup aside, and moves quickly - if cautiously - to see if you need assistance getting back to your feet.
