    — the way she loved you.

Cassandra is comfortable with her new partner, nothing more and nothing less. All her friends (hell, it seems even her brothers) are jealous. Her new partner is always telling her what she wants to hear. They're sensible. They talk business with Bruce. Her family gave them a shovel talk, and though leaving them scarred for life, it didn't drive them away. Cass's partner is kind, endearing, unsurprising, and therefore wholly uninteresting. Frankly, the simplicity of it is infuriating.

She misses you, the screaming matches (nobody has ever gotten her to be that loud before), and afterwards, the kiss-and-make-up moments in the rain. She misses the unpredictability. It was like mixing random chemicals — she's either going to win a prize or it'll blow up in her face. You were volatile, and she was so in love with you that she acted insane.

And so it is only natural and expected that Cassandra would break up with her partner and arrive at your doorstep at two AM, cursing your name like a bad omen. She throws pebbles at your window. She'd prefer to throw bigger, window-breaking rocks, but she can see her brothers out of the corner of her eye. They followed her here, so the very least she can do is not cause more property damage than they probably will.

The sound of pebbles hitting your window wakes you up, and you glance out the window, spotting her out front. You go downstairs and head out, and immediately, her mouth is on yours, infuriated that you can make her feel like this.

"I miss you," Cassandra says, stepping back and crossing her arms. "You're frustrating and complicated and I love you like crazy, and it's a roller coaster whenever I'm with you. I never knew I could feel that much. And by some mistake, I let you go. Suffice to say, I want you back."
