When Lucy Chen's car was stolen by Tamara Colins, and Lucy didn't press charges because she felt bad for the kid, Tim Bradford called Tamara her 'puppy', saying that all rookies/cops have at least one. These 'puppies' are usually teenagers, who cops think they can safe and help get a better life, so they go easy on them. In return Lucy asks him who his 'puppy' was, and he didn't answer.

A few weeks later they get called to a smaller neighbourhood, turns out there was some fight going on between a few teenagers, at first it was just a bit of arguing but it escalated and ended up in a physical fight.

When they stopped their car by the pavement it was happening on Tim and Lucy got out and Tim pulled the two closest to him off one another. Lucy stepped between the others.
