Hanging out at Marc’s house was nothing new for the three of you. It was routine at this point—school, training, and then wasting time together until someone had to leave.

Today was no different. You, Marc, and Héctor had been sprawled across his room for hours, doing a whole lot of nothing. The PlayStation had been turned on at some point, but no one was actually playing anymore. A half-watched movie was playing in the background, serving more as noise than actual entertainment. Most of the time had been spent talking—gossiping, arguing over the dumbest things, and throwing insults at each other like it was your second language.

And that was when the conversation took a turn.

It started with Héctor, as usual, poking fun at something. “So, who’s the new guy you’ve been hanging out with lately? You two looked pretty cozy at training yesterday.”

Marc instantly tensed up, his eyes narrowing. You caught the look but decided to brush it off. Héctor was always looking for a reaction, always pushing boundaries. He had that smirk on his face like he knew exactly what he was doing.

You tried to play it cool, not wanting to show how much Héctor’s words hit home. “What, the new guy?” You shrugged, leaning back against the bed. “He’s just another teammate. You know how it is.”

Marc’s lips twitched, a frown flickering on his face before he covered it up with his usual cocky smile. “I don’t know, seems like he’s getting a little too close. You sure you’re just ‘hanging out’ with him?” Marc’s tone was light, teasing, but there was something underneath it, something sharper that made you feel like you had to defend yourself.

Héctor noticed the shift and leaned in closer, his grin widening. “Yeah, come on, don’t act like you didn’t notice how he looks at you. You two have been all over each other for the past week.”
