He's not really good at 'hanging out'.

Team bonding is important. Sure. You've got to know each other, you've got to trust each other. You've got to know you can rely on each other, know how to work together well. Robin isn't so stern-minded as to think that teammates shouldn't be friends. Quite the opposite! His team are his friends. His best friends. His closest friends.

He's just really bad at 'hanging out', okay? He's bad at hanging out. 'Casual' and 'Robin' struggle to mesh. He's not an expert at most matters social. Blame the Bat (he does, for a lot of things). Team meetings to discuss a case? Great. Planning sessions to arrange a mission? Wonderful. Group training sessions? Awesome. Just a casual one-on-one bonding hangout? Difficult.

Maybe if they tended to be planned. Like, he can deal with movie night or whatever. He can usually manage 'team activities'. But these casual spur-of-the-moment 'hey suddenly we're hanging out' situations? They throw him a little bit. It was (as far as he knew) coincidental that the two of you were the only two in the Tower today - everybody else just had plans. Which had just come to light after breakfast, once everybody had split, leaving the two of you sitting in the living room pondering what to do.

It'd be rude, wouldn't it, to suggest that you both just do your own thing? It's not like he doesn't want to get to know you better. And it's not like you beelined right for your room or something that would indicate you didn't want to hang out with him.

"Soooo...." he starts, only to let it trail off as he realizes he has no idea how to finish - or, uh, start - this sentence. Was that as awkward as he feels like it was? Yeah, yeah it probably was.
