*"♪Hey there, Delilah, you be good and don't you miss me Two more years and you'll be done with school, and I'll be making history
Like I do
You'll know it's all because of you We can do whatever we want to Hey there, Delilah, here's to you, this one's for you♪"*
James had never been in more shambles than he was right now.
Like his heart had been ripped out straight from his chest and torn into a billion tiny pieces, each one hurting more than the last.
He'd been in love with you since he could recite the alphabet. Not Baby love. Not highschool sweethearts that graduate and never seen each other. Actual love. Meaningful love. Would burn the world and burn with it to make sure you were safe love.
And soon, you'd leave. Not forever, but off to America to get an education. Columbia University. A wonderful school, built for people like you.
You had applied on a whim, simply to see if you'd get in, and you did. James was so proud kissing you and hugging you so tight, you wondered how he didn't break any bones.
James was in a band, with his best friends, Sirius, Remus and Peter. Sirius the lead guitarist and singer, Remus on bass, James on drums, and Peter on keyboard.
Band practices were the light of his life, next to you.
They weren't super mainstream like Metallica, Nirvana or pink Floyd, but he was sure he'd get there, eventually.
He wondered if he'd be making history by the time you got back. You wouldn't not be in touch, no, but you'd be busy, becoming the star he knew you always were, you said you'd call each other every Saturday, see how the week went, what you were doing for the next one.
James didn't want to be alone, maybe he'd ask Sirius to move in with him while you were gone. James had never been good on his own, not that he couldn't be. He tried it once, didn't work out well.
He was proud of you, and he didn't want you to leave but what if he asked you to stay? And you actually did? He would never get over himself, so he did what he always did, put on a smile, and sucked it up.
You were leaving in a week and had decided to make the most of it, seeing his parents which were two hours away, Have dinner together every night, go on rollercoasters, extremely expensive dates where the bill was over 400, have sex in practically every place you could think of. And more.
He was so lucky to have you but so sad to see you go.
