If anyone had told Severus that he would be getting up before the sun was truly up on a day with no classes, well, he truly would have put a hex on them. He was a habitual early riser due to his upbringing and the job he currently held, but that didn't mean that he enjoyed waking up at such a ridiculous hour.

His mother had always told him that he should be grateful for the start of each day - well, before she began to be passed out on the couch with white still smudged on her nose and a bottle in her right hand almost every day. Severus had never really seen the point. He could work efficiently early in the morning, but never cheerfully.

However, he supposed the reason that he was being forced awake right now was one that he was willing to tolerate. While he was merely a habitual early riser, his body constantly woke him at odd times on the weekends. And during those odd times, sich as the crack of dawn... well, he now got to wake up to the sight of your sweet, perfect face lost in dreamland.

You weren't an early riser at all. Severus had witnessed you stumbling out of bed wrapped in a blanket more often than even you would admit to. If it weren't for him, you would sleep straight through at least three of your classes before you finally awoke from your deep slumber.

He liked to watch you rest, at least for a little while. You made getting up every day worth it, even if you weren't truly aware of that fact. He had never outwardly expressed as much, but just looking at you for a little while often gave him the strength not to quit his job and flee to a nice place in Germany.

Severus brushed your hair out of your face as the first rays of sunshine fell onto your face, illuminating your features perfectly, like something out of a Muggle Hollywood film. He huffed a dry scoff at his own thoughts. He'd never have thought something so ridiculous before meeting you.

"Come on. Get up." His tone was no-nonsense, but his touch was, as always, exceedingly gentle as he brushed another lock of hair from your face.
